This is a fairly new facility for air ambulances to access the island of Cumbrae.
It's on the shore just to the west of the town of Millport.
From this point you get a general idea of the sort of view a pilot would see.
It has a system where at night the pilot of the helicopter can switch the landing lights on from the air on approach and this means that there's no delay waiting for someone to operate them on the ground. Very high tech and very clever.
The plaque indicates the generosity of the people who financed the new facility.
Not a common sign.
It seems to be missing from the Highway Code...
Always remember that images taken by 197 aerial photography are available for clients
in a very much higher quality than the small sized compressed images which are shown
as .jpg files on this website.
