The Quay Zone
Girvan, South Ayrshire
The Quay Zone at Girvan harbour.
Still under construction as you can see, this combined swimming pool, community centre, café and gym is due to open in April, 2017.
This was taken in early March and we'll get some shots of it finished and working as soon as we can after it opens.
The harbour is on the left, the boating pond on the right and the buses in the top left are making their way north through Girvan on the A77.
This photo was taken looking south-east with the sea behind.
This is of the same area and was taken from across the river in 2013, long before we knew of the plans for the new building and of course under different lighting conditions.
As you can see the area was in use as a car and lorry park and the very approximate line of the new building is marked out in blue.
As above but this was in 2008 and again was not taken from the same height or viewpoint and of course under different lighting conditions.
The old pool and public toilets are in the background and at that time looking pretty scruffy and the very approximate line of the new building is again marked out in blue.
Once the Quay Zone is completed we'll put the camera in the same place as the above two images and show comparable old and new views (and also see how inaccurate the blue lines are!).
