The Heavy Horse

This statue of a Clydesdale horse sits right next to the M8 motorway on the eastern approach to
Glasgow, at Junction 9 near Baillieston and Easterhouse. It was designed and built by Andy Scott
of Glasgow in 1997. It's 4.5 metres tall (14 feet) and made from various rod thicknesses of
galvanised steel.

From higher up and further back you can see over the motorway to the edge of Easterhouse.
You can also see the slip roads to and from junction 9 of the M8, just to the east.

From ground level you can get some idea of the size and realism of the beast.

Before editing this close-up photo it wasn't apparent that it has a glint in its eye.
