Gourock Outdoor Swimming Pool

This is one of only two outdoor heated pools in Scotland and has recently been restored and improved.
That's the River Clyde on the left and these photos were taken in May 2009, looking north-west.
To find the pool, go to Gourock and listen for the happy splashing sounds.

From more overhead. Presumably the lines of flags are to stop the local herons from swooping down
and pinching the swimmers' burgers. (And yes, that one was cleaned up.)


This is a detail from the top photo. This guy seems to be looking up at the camera and scratching
his head in confusion. By now he's hopefully worked it out...


This is another detail from one of the photos above. It's not clear why they have the text in a
Charles Rennie Mackintosh style font, other than the fact that from near the pool you can just about
see across the river to the Hill House in Helensburgh. On the other hand, it looks quite nice so
maybe that's reason enough.
