The Paddle Steamer Waverley at Fairlie Quay
The paddle steamer Waverley arriving at Fairlie Quay in July 2009.
While the pier at Largs is being rebuilt this is the temporary departure point for the Waverley, passengers being transferred from Largs station by coach. On the left is the island of Great Cumbrae, the north horizon is the Cowal Peninsula and Largs and the marina (yacht haven) are on the right.
Just arriving at the pier, a mile or so south of Largs.
Tied up (half hidden by the pier as it was low tide) and with the coach from Largs discharging
the passengers for a cruise to Rothesay and round the Kyles of Bute.
Reversing away from the peir. Purists in the boating world might call it "going astern"?
And finally, having turned in a semi-circle, heading off to the north.
