The Paddle Steamer Waverley at Fairlie Quay
The paddle steamer Waverley arriving at Fairlie Quay. During the period when Largs pier was being re-built this was the temporary departure point for the Waverley, passengers being transferred from Largs station by coach. On the left is the island of Great Cumbrae, the north horizon is the Cowal Peninsula and Largs and the marina (yacht haven) are on the right.
Just arriving at the pier, a mile or so south of Largs.
Tied up (half hidden by the pier as it was low tide) and with the coach from Largs discharging the passengers for a cruise to Rothesay and round the Kyles of Bute.
Reversing away from the pier.
And finally, having turned in a semi-circle, heading off to the north. The full-sized images available to clients are about 70 times the size of the images shown here and as you would expect they show a great deal more detail than the .jpg website versions. Standard images are 5,000 pixels wide and ~50Mb in size. Panoramas are much bigger. Click this line to view the Image Quality Sample page.
