The Monument to the Russian Cruiser "Varyag"
There's a long story to this monument.
Basically, a famous and respected Russian cruiser of the early 1900s sank nearby and the people of Ayrshire built this monument on the shore to mark her last resting place. To help you locate it, that's the edge of the village of Lendalfoot on the left (north) and the road at the back is the A77 between Girvan and Stranraer.
Another two views, this time a little closer in.
As we were leaving a shower came on and combined with the bright sunlight
it resulted in a rainbow. It seemed a shame to pass up the chance.
