An invitation …

… to have your favourite subject photographed

Over the last few years photographs of a range of subjects have been added to this website.

Now, there's no suggestion that 197 aerial photography is running out of ideas or subjects. In fact there's a list as long as your arm of potential targets, ranging from archery contests and bowling greens all the way down to zoological gardens and .. eh .. other things beginning with z.

And that's where you come in

If you have any ideas for events, sports meetings, regattas, rallies, or whatever rings your own particular bell, please use the direct enquiry link to the left or below to send in a request and if it's feasible or sensible it will be added to the list of potential targets.

Of course, some of the ideas will be a little narrow in their scope and beyond the interest of most of the visitors to this website. Last year it was suggested that the site lacks photos of open-cast coal mines, quarries and (oddly) electricity sub-stations. It does indeed, and will remain so, hopefully.

Sensible is good

There are a few things that aren't a good idea to suggest, for safety reasons. As kites and/or hot air balloons are used to carry the cameras on high then anything involving animals can be a little iffy. Horses either totally ignore the equipment or have hairy fits and dash off in all directions. Dogs can also be a little fickle, especially when gathered together for a show and of course sheepdog trials have the potential for absolute disaster.

Locations are best

If you have a favourite village or landscape, maybe a river valley or a nice garden, tell us about it. If there are major changes afoot and you think that before and after photos will be interesting, let us know. As an example, the new Forth Road Bridge will be photographed as the construction progresses over the next few years; or maybe you know of a green field site that's scheduled for housing that will be of interest to long-term locals and the new home owners alike.

The alphabetical list on the left of the pages has a few gaps. J, R, U, V, X, Y and Z are all empty. The X can be covered by photographing an Xscape (the one at Braehead west of Glasgow is handy) but any other suggestions for any of the missing letters are welcome.

And finally…

Ideally any ideas sent in will have the potential to interest visitors to this site and if the images can generate income by selling photos as prints or for publication that's even better. There's a cost involved and if it can be recovered or met by sales, that's a good thing. On the other hand, if an idea generates a wodge of cash it would be churlish not to express appreciation for the idea.

Feel free to cautiously suggest any money-making schemes that you think might benefit worthy causes or community projects.

The best ideas (if there are any made at all) will be posted here and credit will be given where it's due.

So please, get your thinking caps on and pass on your suggestions.

Thanks.

The images shown on this website are reduced and compressed .jpg versions of much larger images.
These versions are ideal for showing the quality and character of 197 aerial photography's work.
Full-sized files for licensed commercial use are generally of at least 5,000 pixels wide and as you
would expect they all show a great deal more detail and clarity than website-quality versions.
