The 2011 version of the kite surfing, windsurfing and associated sports on the beach at Barassie in Troon on Sunday 18th September 2011.
This page has a few photos of the general area and the size of the crowds.
You can see from the looming clouds that they were lucky to get it dry for the main part of the day and in fact the wind was pretty steady at about 12 - 15 mph from the west for most of the afternoon
There wasn't anyone playing on what looked like beach volleyball courts when these were taken.
(Either that or the local fishermen were drying their nets.)
Even at 3pm there were still more crowds arriving.
The play area offering the usual bouncy things, throwing things and slidey things as well as the obligatory kids' roundabout, this time of spinning tea-cups.
An all-round family fun day out is the message here.
The full-sized images available to clients are about 70 times the size of the images shown here
and as you would expect they show a great deal more detail than the .jpg website versions.
Standard images are 5,000 pixels wide and ~50Mb in size. Panoramas are much bigger.
