Fullarton, Troon, South Ayrshire

Fullarton Courtyard in Troon, South Ayrshire.

Both of the photos on this page were taken from well under 100 feet (30 metres) because the location is just within the restricted safety zone of Prestwick Airport.

The building above was once the stables of Fullarton House, the home of the Dukes of Portland for many years, which was eventually demolished by the local council in the mid 1960s, though some put the date as earlier than that. All that's left are a couple of restored gateposts, the top of one is visible on the right of this photo, this converted stable block and the ruins of an “ice house” in the woods nearby, to the left of this photo.

The petanque club just next to Marr Rugby Club, Troon.

Many thanks to the guys marking the pitch for not complaining about the kite getting in their way.
