Argyll & Bute, about 8 miles south of Dunoon on the north coast of the Clyde.
These photos were taken from over the beach to the south, the view of the castle being obscured from ground level by a screen of trees.
Originally built from the 1820s by the Lamont family this building has been through a number of changes over the years from a naval base named HMS Brontosaurus when it was the headquarters of the No 2 Combined Training Centre for landing craft crews in World War 2 right through to a youth training centre in more recent years.
Castle Toward has now been bought as probably a private house and is under renovation.
From further back and showing Buachailean as the backdrop.
This wider view shows the castle and the walled gardens to the west.
To the west are the cottages, entrance gatehouse and on the shore
the Toward Sailing Club.
